City needs Blue belt, its lakes, tanks

The City of Lakes - this is what Bangalore was known as before it was called the Garden City. But alas, it's neither a blue, (lakes & water-bodies) nor a green (tree/forest cover) city any more. Most of the lakes in Bangalore were constructed way back in the sixteenth century by damming the natural valley systems by building check-dams & bunds across them.

Earth Day - 2021 - Restore our Earth

Every year the world observes April 22nd as Earth Day on a global scale. This event was started in the year 1970 by Gaylord Nelson - A US Senator and Environmentalist. The event was observed to highlight the destruction caused to the environment followed by an oil spill in Santa Barbara, California in 1969. That year saw 20 million people taking to the streets to voice their anguish against the environmental hazards.

We plant saplings on this day – without really knowing anything about the sapling, we vow to never use plastic again (when the very next minute we end up buying groceries that come packed in plastic).
